FOUNDATION OF THE COMPANY

La Rose des Vents family farm was founded in 1945 in Mont-Laurier. Today, Diane Aubin and her entire family produce poultry, including guinea fowl, duck and turkey. The highly sought-after products from La Rose des Vents are available at many fine grocery stores in the Montreal area, the Laurentians and Abitibi.

 

TRAINING

Like many farmers of their generation, Diane Aubin and her partner Jean-Guy Lacelle learned the basics of farming by working on the family farm. Their daughters Geneviève and Myrianne, for their part, trained to become butchers.

 

INITIAL SPARK

La Rose des Vents was originally a dairy farm. “Health problems in the family led us to choose a less demanding agricultural activity.” Poultry farming – an activity that the whole family was already practicing in parallel – was the logical choice. Very soon, La Rose des Vents stood out for offering meat without antibiotics, animal fats and preservatives.

 

BIGGEST CHALLENGES

As a small producer, La Rose des Vents must distinguish itself from the industry giants by the outstanding quality of its products. In 2013, it became one of the few poultry farms to have its own slaughterhouse. In addition to saving many hours of transportation, an important factor in sustainable development, the farm’s team can now supervise and control all stages of processing while ensuring freshness.

 

NICE SURPRISES

To fulfill its commitment to offer the most natural meat, La Rose des Vents created its own poultry feed, made from grains grown on the farm. This recipe – a secret! – gives the poultry a tender texture that makes it renowned. “People tell us they have rediscovered the taste of chicken from their childhood.

 

INSPIRATION

Diane Aubin believes that “people forget that agriculture is the basis of everything. What drives us to surpass ourselves is to remind everyone of this fact!” Among other things, this involves working closely with restaurant owners, so that they can serve local products that make a difference on the plate.

 

ASPIRATION

As Diane Aubin puts it, “La Rose des Vents wants to become THE ultimate reference for outstanding poultry in the greater Laurentians region and cause a ripple effect in the greater Montreal area.
